Description:
1.Choose aplacethat you want to rhetorically analyze. The place can be anywhere—familiar or unfamiliar, commercial or residential, industrial or natural, indoor or outdoor, etc.—but it needs to be someplace that you can physically visit.2.Go to your chosen place with paper and a pen/pencil and write down yourobservations(or use your phone or laptop to take notes electronically, if convenient). What is the rhetorical situation that seems to be in play at this place (in other words, can you identify the rhetor, target audience, message, media/medium, and occasion/context)?3.Come up with athesis statementthat makes a compelling claim about how you believe the place tries to convince its target audience to think or act a certainway. In other words you’ll be writing an argument about an argument.4.Go back to your place and take more notes. Gather evidencefrom the place that justifies and supports your thesis statement and that can help you strengthen/complicate/deepen your overall argument.Length should bebetween 1200-1500 words(about 4-6pages, double spaced).-Use a standard 12-point font(something like Arial, Times New Roman, or Garamond will do).-Include your nameon the first page.-You do not need to include outside research for this assignment; however, if you do cite or quote someone, use MLA formatand include a proper Works Cited page.
