Description:
My research proposal is for PhDs in social decision sciences and behavior. My focus is on psychology and/or business schools. The main idea is to provide a quantitative review (a meta-analysis) about nudge effectiveness in public and private areas. My hypothesis is that attitude towards nudges won’t affect nudge effectiveness if this nudge is affecting system 1, since the decision maker will not perceive that he is being nudged. Nevertheless, I also aim to study cultural factors, whether the nudge is overt or covert, if it affects system 1 or 2, the attitude that it generates, whether the nudge is done by a public or private institution, whether or not the nudgee (person that receives the nudge) wishes to be nudged, etc. I plan on using primary data from public and private institutions, as well as data provided by published and unpublished papers.
