This paper will provide you an opportunity to apply your understanding and critical-thinking of I/O theory and research. To complete this assignment, you will select a Fortune 500 organization and provide a thorough review and critique of the organization in light of I/O theory and research. You will pick five of eleven potential topics to address in your assessment of the organization. These topics are: 1. Recruitment Practices 2. Selection of Employees 3. Performance Appraisal/Promotion Practices 4. Training Practices 5. Socialization of New Employees 6. Organizational Change Initiatives 7. Team-Based Culture and Practices 8. Organizational Culture and Climate 9. Organizational Leadership (including organizational structure/hierarchy) 10. Employee Wellness Initiatives 11. Employee Motivation Initiatives For each selected topic, you are to describe the organization’s practices and whether these are effective and provide the rationale for your decision. In providing a rationale, you should draw upon empirical and theoretical papers in the I/O literature. At least five references other than the textbook must be used. These references must be from respectable journals in the field (i.e., Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Academy of Management Journal, Human Performance, etc.). All citations and references should be cited using APA format. Please provide a thorough critique of the organization’s practices, providing good rationale for the critique, and don’t simply summarize the organization’s practices. If you do this, your grade will suffer. The paper must be at least 9 pages in length, double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font, with 1-inch margins. You should, in addition to your review and critique of organization practices, provide general information (e.g. name, location, industry, founding date, etc.) about the company in the opening section. This information should not amount to more than a page, however.
